Abstract

I have been in contact with the youth of Kangemi since August 1987.Around December in the same year I got involved in some youth apostolate. At that time I was coming from Hekima College to work in the Parish as a "pastoral agent" of week-ends only. For two years I was going to the repetitions of the choir of the second mass of Sundays. It helped me to know a bit about the youth of Kangemi involved in this activity. It helped me to see how some girls behaved, and how they were treated in the group. Also it helped me to understand a bit about the interest of some boys who were coming to the group. Later on I was in contact with the boys of "indoor games" and afterwards with the Altar Boys Group. Now since July 1990 I have been living in the Parish, and here I have had the chance to have a deeper relationship with the youth and their difficulties. This contact allowed me to write this paper on "the youth of Kangemi". "The youth in Kangemi Catholic Parish" is indeed a Pastoral Field - Work, that presents two main parts. The two main parts are: first, a social analysis on Kangemi and the youth of the Catholic Parish. The second part is a theological reflection on the youth of our Kangemi Catholic Parish. The four points that I am developing are as follow: 1.- The youth's social situation in Kangemi. 2. - The youth in Kangemi Parish. 3. - Theological reflection on the youth apostolate in Kangemi. 4.- The future of the youth apostolate in Kangemi.
