Abstract

This research work deals specifically with the Role of Spiritual Guidance and counseling in the healing of HIV/AIDS patients on ARV Kitgum Vicariate. The data collected is purely academic. The care for AIDS patients is a duty that enhances the life of the patients and the researcher set out to find out how far spiritual care can give meaning to the life of AIDS patients who are on ARV. These patients are special because they are on treatments which is not curative and for a life time. This may bring many psychological and spiritual crises that should be dealt with. In chapter one, the researcher deals with the background information and more prominently stating the problem that made this research a point of interest. Many AIDS patients relapse to despair even when they are on treatment. What could have gone wrong? In chapter two the researcher reviews related literature and points out how these sources are helpful to the entire work. Chapter three deals with the methods used in acquiring the data that has been used in this research. It is a scientific study; if one uses these methods systematically, one should be able to arrive at similar conclusions as long as factors are kept constant. Chapters four and five deal with data presentation, analysis, interpretation, summary, recommendations and conclusion. A fact is established that Spiritual Guidance and counseling can make a difference in the life of the patients. It is also found out that patients do not always seek for this help freely.
