Abstract

The study is to investigate the impact of employee empowerment on employee’s productivity in the City Council of Nairobi. There were objectives of the study, research questions, and significance of the study, limitations, scope of the study and the conceptual framework which shows the relationship between the dependent and independent variables. The literature review of the subject matter, critical review and summary of the gaps to be filled have been extensively covered in chapter two of the report.The researcher used descriptive research design in collecting the data from respondents. The researcher used simple stratified sampling procedure to select a sample that represented the entire population. The target population was 120 employees from City- Council of Nairobi and sample size of two employees was selected. The researcher used questionnaires in collecting data that was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively in chapter four of the study. The study found out that training is a very important aspect in the implementation of a successful empowerment program as it provides an opportunity to inform employees about the goal of empowerment and also provide workers with the skills and know ledge needed to achieve those goals. 1 raining also provides an opportunity to empower and motivate employees, reducing employee resistance and increasing the chances of empowerment success Organizations must create conducive environment for communication within working groups as this is a fundamental mechanism through which members express their feelings. In this way, communication provides an avenue to release the emotional expression and for fulfillment of social goals
