Abstract
Generally speaking, Kenya has been severely affected by the problem of ethnicity/tribalism. The practice of ethnicity/ tribalism persists as a threat to people's dignity and also as a violation of their rights. Ethnicity/tribalism in Kenya has likewise been a major stumbling block towards the achievement of the common good. Only a small percentage of the population has control over the national wealth while the majority continue to wallow in abject poverty. The thesis attempts to unmask the various causes, factors and dynamics that have been responsible for the current problem of negative ethnicity in Kenya. The thesis shall argue that ethnicity is a value that becomes evil or a dividing factor whenever it is intertwined with bad politics. The thesis concludes with some perspectives that can be instrumental in addressing the problem from the grassroots.
