Abstract
The main purpose of this study was to find out the impact of NSSF's enforcement strategies on its active membership and benefit level. Specific objectives of the study were to evaluate the effectiveness of NSSF's compliance monitoring strategies, assess the legal & policy framework guiding the sector, establish whether the communication channels used were effective for the targeted group, assess the level of awareness on the need for a secure retirement and establish the role played by the government in ensuring a secure old age for all Kenyans. The study adopted a descriptive research design. The targeted Population included NSSF stakeholders i.e employees, employers, enforcement officers and the self employed. The total population size of the study was 1493 from the location to be studied; purposive sampling was used to select the enforcement officers since they were the ones charged with enforcing the NSSF act Cap 258.The population was stratified using simple random sampling to ensure equal representation of all stakeholders. Research tools for data collection were questionnaires with five sections in a bid to answer all the research questions, and they were administered through mail, face to face as well as through telephone conversation. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, and was presented using charts, tables, frequency and cumulative frequency tables, percentages and graphs.
