Abstract

An empirical formula based on Bohr’s classical approach has been obtained to predict the stopping power for proton with energies 1-12Mev/amu in elemental targets. The range formula is determined by directly integrating the stopping power formula of proton. These relations are also used to find the stopping power for compound targets by using the Bragg’s additivity rule. The results are compared with experimental data and tabulated values of Bichsel and Sternheimer, and discussed at various energies of proton.
