Abstract

Background:- Web-based liaison service System presents a multi potential benefits for health system especially for those in developing countries. The system will replace paper based liaison service system that have limitation on referral papers which were not complete, unreadable and difficult to understand a referral case where the patient referred. But also it improves poor paper based referral feedback mechanism system and its arrival on time. In addition to this the new system can strength bed and ambulance management system as well as able to control a large number of patient requests for service which was in capability to handle. Objective:- This project aimed to develop a Web-based liaison service System for Yekatit 12 hospital medical college. Methods: - In developing the liaison service system, we have used Object Oriented Systems Analysis and Design methodology. UML tools were used for analysis, design phases and programming tool like CSS and PHP were embedded with HTML and MySQL database language. Integration of development modules and testing was implemented to bring the functionality of system and also used prototype and usability tests method. Result: - The newly web-based liaison service System for Yekatit 12 Medical College was developed so that end users of the system could manage and transfer patient referral data, bed and ambulance management on online. But also two way communication between the health institutions and hospitals would be easily possible. Using standard liaison service have their own benefits in the way to decrease the time needed admit the patient. But also made possible the redirection of patient to alternative facility based on the information provided in advance to service delivery. Report generating mechanism become an integral part of the system has a function of generating report based on the information need of the user. This makes the retrieval of the information from the database easy, customized and appropriate. Conclusion: - Web based liaison service empower hospitals to take more responsibility for their people health and quality of life, and they lead to better cost-efficiency in the health sector. The use of the system allows a mutually beneficial collaboration and involvement of patients and medical professionals in the prevention and treatment of diseases. Overall, the system can be used to ensure the top-quality health care of citizens.
