Abstract

Donor/Acceptor-Copolymers, as so-called “low-band-gap” π-conjugated polymers, have been widely investigated and applied in different areas such as organic photovoltaics (OPVs), organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) and organic field effect transistors (OFETs). Due to the attractive features of those functional organic polymer materials such as light weight, flexibility and low cost of production they have attracted recent interest in research development. In the course of this project, the synthesis of polyfluorene copolymers was attempted. Monomers based on quinoxaline, namely, 5,8-bis-(5-bromo-thiophen- 2-yl-2,3-bis(4-octyloxyphenyl)quinoxaline was successfully synthesized. Two copolymers, namely, poly[5-(5-(9,9-bis-[2-(2-methoxy-ethoxy)-ethyl]-7-methyl-9Hfluoren-2-yl}-thiophen-2-yl)-8-(5-methyl-thiophen-2-yl)-2,3-bis-(4-octyloxyphenyl)- quinoxaline] and poly[5-(5-(7-(7-(9,9-bis-[2-(2-methoxy-ethoxy)-ethyl]-9H-fluoren- 2-yl)-benzo[1,2,5]thiadiazol-4-yl)-9,9-bis-[2-(2-methoxy-ethoxy)-ethyl]-9H-fluoren- 2-yl)-thiophen-2-yl)-2,3-bis-(4-octyloxy-phenyl)-8-thiophen-2-yl-quinoxaline]. Were prepared with a palladium(0)-catalyzed Suzuki-coupling polymerization reaction and the polymers were characterized by NMR, Uv-Vis a
