Abstract

Background Pregnancy along with myomatous uterus is a high risk pregnancy which may lead to complication with unequal gravity. Objective To determine the prevalence and perinatal outcome of grossly visible on inspection and /or palpation of myoma among women who give birth by caesarean section. Design Hospital based cross sectional study conducted in three AAU affiliated teaching hospitals in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Method Pre tested questioner was administered to be filled by the attending surgeon and data was entered, cleared and analyzed using SPSS version 21 Result A total of 404 cases were included in the study.The prevalence of myoma was 15.3 %, only age of patients had association with the presence of myoma. Majority of myoma were discovered in women with normal birth weight, Apgar score, post op hct, and EBL was <500.but adjusted prevalence of myoma was common among those with low birth weight, elderlies low Apgar scores and anemic patients. Conclusion Adverse pregnancy outcome association was not seen with presence of myoma.
