Abstract

In this thesis, we study the quantum properties of the light generated by a two-level laser in which two-level atoms in a cavity coupled to a vacuum reservoir are pumped to the top level at a rate of rca. We consider the case in which two-level atoms and the cavity mode are interacting with vacuum reservoir. Employing the Master equation for the system under consideration, we obtained the quantum Langevin equations for the cavity mode and atomic operators. Employing the solution of these equations along with the correlation properties of the noise operators, we calculate the mean and the variance of the photon number of the cavity light. We have found that the variance of the photon number is greater than the mean of the photon number and hence the photon statistics of the cavity light mode is super-Poissonian. Moreover, we determine the quadrature variance and the power spectrum of the cavity light.
