Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the organizational change practice of ethio telecom based on the leadership capability of a leader, challenges of change management, result of the implemented change and the employees’ perception towards a change. To this end, a descriptive survey design was employed. This design is believed to be appropriate for generating adequate amount of data from a relatively large number of respondents. Accordingly, 302 respondents who properly completed and returned the quationiaries were used as sources of data. The data were gathered by means of questionnaire and observation through a simple random sampling technique. Data obtained through questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS version 20 statistical data analysis tools. The main findings of the study showed that lack of transparency, responsiveness, communication, documentation, awareness creation, principal’s support and implementation problems. The study also revealed that there was incompatibility of manpower with the approved organizational structures and job positions. The result of these might have been one of the hindering factors for effective change implementation. Thus, change managers should take some intervention strategies in managing organizational change, solve problems and plan organizational change management activities through: awareness creation, communication, training and establish transparent and clearly defined parameters or some types of predetermined change frame work.
