Abstract

This work sets out to study the environmental impact of waste disposal in Dandora residential area. In order to examine this impact, four environmental attributes are analyzed - air, land, people and buildings. The study examines these environmental attributes in each of the five areas in Dandora; in order to see the extent of environmental damage in each area and examine the relationship of this with their location relative to the position of the waste disposal site or tipping site. The findings of the study reveal that the cause of these environmental problems is the lack of proper controlled tipping practices. This study finally gives recommendations as to how this environmental degradation can be minimized.
