Abstract
State Corporations have become strong entities in Kenya and very useful engines to promote development. State Corporations have adopted Strategic Change Management to improve on performance. Strategic Change Management has evolved as an interdisciplinary corpus of knowledge. The study sought to investigate Strategic Change Management practices adopted by State Corporations in Kenya. The objective of the study was to determine the strategic change management practices adopted within State Corporations in Kenya. The descriptive survey method was preferred because it ensured complete description of the situation, making sure that there is minimum bias in the collection of data. This research study targeted all the 178 State Corporations in Kenya which are categorised in 8 categories including, Financial, Commercial, Regulatory, Public Universities, Training and Research, Service, Regional Development Authorities and Tertiary Education and Training. For the purpose of this study, 40 State Corporations were selected for this study where simple random sampling technique was adopted to select 5 State Corporations from each of the 8 categories. The study concluded that State Corporations structures affected the Strategic Change Management indicating that the State Corporations Act assigns roles and responsibilities to institutions namely the President, responsible Minister, the Treasury, Boards of Directors, State Corporations Advisory Committee (SCAC), Inspectorate of State Corporations, State Corporations Appeals Tribunal (SCAT), Performance Contracting.
