Abstract
Unemployment is the most attention-seeking challenge that faces the Ethiopian economy of today. The objective of the study is to identify the socio-economic and demographic determinants of unemployment in Ethiopia. Descriptive and binary logistic regression analyses were used for analyzing the data. The predictors age, sex, region, place of residence, educational level, economic status, marital status, sex of head of household and household size are found to have a significance effect on unemployment status of an individual in Ethiopia. It is recommended that, in the short term creating jobs that require manual work by humans is possible. Empower women and increase their participation. Efforts made by the government and other organizations to do so should further be enhanced. In the long run, increasing and improving the level of education will create better chances not to live in poverty
