Abstract

The topic of discussion is Christological in its nature. This is adapted to the local Church of Moshi in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. The people of Moshi diocese are by tribe Chagga. It is now more than a century since Christianity came to the Chagga people. Does it make any sense to write on Christology to the Chagga, to whom Christ is known for about a Century to the point of being nicknamed as the community of "Yesu, Maria na Yosefu!"? implying' Jesus, Mary and Joseph!' Despite the considerable elapse of time since the Gospel was preached among the Chagga, Jesus Christ has not yet been fully grasped and so animate fully the life of people. Just as the twelve Apostles, despite being with Jesus, seemed not to have grasped who he was, so are the Chagga; and perhaps, Christians from other parts of Africa. After the Gospel has been proclaimed among the Chagga people in more than a century, the question is being posed to the disciples and followers of Jesus Christ: "But you...who do you say I am?" (Mk.8: 29). Peter on behalf of his colleagues said that' Jesus Christ is the Messiah'l What would be the answer from the Chagga? Definitely the most appropriate answer could be the following: "Oiyo nyi Mangi Mndumii O wandu na uyana wose", implying 'You are the King par excellence. ' It is upon this Chagga-understanding of Jesus that our Thesis is built, namely Christ the Mangi (King of Unity) Par Excellence in Reference To the Chagga People of Moshi Diocese - Tanzania. 1. THE PURPOSE OF THE THESIS 1. To develop a Chagga Christology on Christ the Mangi par excellence 2. To use the analysed model of kingship to promote rooting of the Gospel values, harmony, unity and peace among the Chagga Christians.
