Abstract

This study examined whether religiously integrated counseling manual is effective in increasing the counseling skills of priests. Fifty two priests/ “Yenefse Abat” were selected through convenient sampling and 104 clients/ Yenfse Lejoches selected randomly were participants of the research. The research design was a single group experimental design. Two objectively corrected questioners and one satisfaction scale was used to measure the dependent variable at two occasions: pretest and posttest. Participants of the research received counseling skills training for 10 days. Results of dependent t test indicated that, after the treatment, participants of the research showed statistically significant increment in their counseling skills (df =51, t=- 17.344) and this increment is also witnessed by the clients/ “Nefse Lejoche” from pretest to post test (df =51, t=-10.823) in addition to this the satisfaction of the clients/ “Nefse Lejoche” from pretest to posttest has showen increment. From these results it was suggested that the application of religiously integrated counseling skills training has to be expanded in more other settings within the church.
